The Osseointegration concept introduced by a Sweedish Professor Dr. Prof. Per Ingmar Bränemark, it's what makes possible for Odontology to give an important step to help patients, that for one hand or another, have lost dental pieces.
Osseointegration is the capacity that an Implant has to adhere to the bone. This biological union, meaning cells to the bone (osteoblasts) are added to the implant area. This happens when the titanium Implant area has the right characteristics (superficie Ti Unite™ NobelBiocare) and when the receptor bone tissue gives the right stability
This means that it must exists in the lip toothless patient a bone with quality featrues and minimum amount to ensure that the implant is osseointegrated. However, development in the surgery techniques and the treatment in implant areas (Ti Unite™) make proceedings be available for extreme queality and quantity bone cases also
At the same time, development of new designs in im (Bränemark Mk IV ™, NobelSpeedy ™, NobelReplace ™, NobelActive™ entre otros) allow to obtain stability of 35 Ncm (measure of the strengh with which the implant is retained within the bone), that makes posible the Inmediate Function™.
This means to locate temporal dental pieces (dental crown)and, in some cases, definitive ones at the same moment that the implant has been installed (root canal). It is saying that the function of mastication, speech and aesthetics, can be recovered the same day in which we have installed the implant.
To performe Immediate Function it is required some prothesics elements (Elements that retained the tooth to the implant), provisonal or final.
